"Pow" is the sound the gun made after the main character in "Please Don't Take my Air Jordans Away" shot a man for his sneakers. The main character was being peer pressured. He felt like he needed new clothes all the time. Fitting in is not important.
The main character killed an innocent man for his sneakers. The main character could not afford the new sneakers and couldn't steal them because the amount of security at the mall was getting higher. Was it worth killing a man just for a new pair of sneakers? While the victim was laying on the floor all he wished for was for the main character not to take away his sneakers. The victim was worried more about his sneakers than his own life. And yet the main character still took the victim's sneakers and didn't care. While reading that the main character was laying on the floor dying it made me feel bad for the victim. Not only because he was dying but because all he wanted was to keep his sneakers.
The main character's "crew" was laughing at the main character because he was wearing old gear. That's why the main character "needed" new gear. Because the crew was laughing at the main character, the main character was being peer pressured and felt that he needed new gear. This made me feel sad because I couldn't help but think that maybe part of the reason the victim got shot was because of the main character's crew. If the crew hadn't been laughing at the main character he might have not killed the man.
This text made me realize that fitting in is not important. The main character was worried about not fitting in and that lead to them killing someone. Everyone at one point in their life feels like they need to fit in with other people, but they don't. People should just be who they are and wear the clothes that they want to wear, whether it's clothes that you bought weeks ago or just days ago.
